The IEEE Ottawa Section celebrated its 71st AGM on November 6, 2015 at the Shaw Centre (formerly Ottawa Convention Center). It was a function with over 130 in attendance and 6 booths setup. The evening began with the AGM Business meeting where the new 2016 slate was elected and the budget approved. The second part of the function was the banquet where corporate and Section awards were presented. The keynote speaker was Dr. Paul Corkum who gave a talk on “Attosecond, the soft X-ray Science”. The student volunteers from Carleton University, the University of Ottawa and Algonquin College helped to ensure the success of the AGM under Anissa Shaddy, the Section’s AGM Committee Chair, and leadership. The Section would like to thank our distinguished guests, R7 Director Dr. Amir Aghdam, R7 Director-Elect Maike Luiken, and IEEE Canadian Foundation President David Whyte for their support and attendance at the event. Thanks to Prof. Calvin Plett who volunteered as the Section’s Photographer. IEEE Ottawa Section would like to thank all the award recipients for attending and a special thank you for the keynote speaker of the night Dr. Paul Corkum. A special thank you to Acoustic Duo for providing entertainment throughout the evening.
