Sir Terry Matthews, a name synonymous with innovation and entrepreneurship, is one such figure. From his early UK beginnings in Wireless R&D, to founding tech giant Mitel and later building Newbridge Networks into a global success, the journey is a story of foresight, relentless determination, and an extraordinary ability to seize opportunities, particularly tech waves, at the right time. As the Founder and Chairman of Wesley Clover International, a global investment management firm, Sir Terry has been instrumental in the creation and funding of hundreds of companies, fostering innovation across various sectors and supporting many entrepreneurs on their journeys.  Join us for an opportunity to hear directly from this Welsh Canadian entrepreneur as he shares insights from his remarkable journey of innovation, leadership, and business success.

Sir Terry Matthews is the founder and Chairman of Wesley Clover International, a private, global investment management firm and holding company.  Since 1972, Terry has founded or funded more than 100 companies.  Early data networking giant Newbridge Networks and business communications leader Mitel are highlights. Today, Wesley Clover has active interests in a range of innovative cloud and SaaS technology companies, as well as in selected commercial and leisure real estate. Terry holds an Honours degree in electronics from the University of Wales and is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and of the Royal Academy of Engineering.  In 1994, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) and in 2001, the Queen made him a Knight Bachelor.  In 2017, Terry was also appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.


NOTE: This year, the AGM/Awards Banquet will be held at a new venue on the same day as the return of the IEEE Student Professional Awareness Conference (SPAC).
