The 8’th edition of the IEEE International Symposium on Medical Measurements and Applications (MeMeA -  http://memea2013.ieee-ims.org/memea2013) will be held in Gatineau, QC on May 4-5, 2013 under the auspices of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society and with the sponsorship of the IEEE Ottawa Section,
University of Ottawa, Carleton University and Université du Québec en Outaouais. The previous editions were held in Budapest – Hungary, Bari –
Italy, Ottawa – Canada, Cetraro – Italy, Warsaw – Poland and Benevento – Italy. This event is organized by volunteers of the Ottawa Section, mainly from the IMS and EMBS Chapters, and with the direct contribution of numerous specialists from all over the world.

Medical instrumentation and measurement form the first link in the chain connecting engineering to medicine. The evolving role of biomedical engineering in health care has been reflected by the constant increase in the interest in MeMeA, which started as a workshop and became a symposium in 2011. The importance of measurement in medical applications is growing continuously as increasingly sophisticated techniques become available for general, unsupervised use.
Papers are currently being reviewed with the symposium program coming out in mid-February. Participants will be invited to register soon after that.
