“IEEE Ottawa Section recognizes volunteers and industries at its 68th AGM”
IEEE Ottawa Section recognized the following Volunteers for their outstanding contributions
a) Dr. Sreeraman Rajan: Outstanding volunteer Award for serving as the Section Chair in 2011-2012
b) Dr. Jim Lee: Outstanding Engineer Award for his development of an algorithm for fine-grain analysis of modern radar signals and novel re-configurable multi-function electronic support receivers for detection, analysis and direction finding of radar signals.
c) Dr. Abdulmotaleb El Saddik: Outstanding Engineering Educator Award for his dedication to student success and outstanding contributions to multimedia applications, computing & communications.
The following industries were recognized at the AGM:
a) The Outstanding Information and Communication Technology Company award was presented to Ciena for globally leading the next-generation telecommunications infrastructure; establishing its position in Ottawa largely based on research and design; and committing to higher education through research and development.
b) The Outstanding Technology Recognition award was presented to TekTrap, Track24, DRDC-Ottawa and CANOSCOM for collaboratively conducting research and developing an anti-intrusion RFID technology to ensure container security for the Canadian Forces.
c) The 2012 Appreciation Award was given to TELUS for its continued and valuable support to the activities of the IEEE Ottawa Section and to its significant contribution to the success of the International Conference on Communications 2012 – ICC 2012, Ottawa.
d) The 2012 Appreciation Award was given to Alcatel-Lucent for its support to the activities of the IEEE Ottawa Section and valuable contribution to the success of the International Conference on Communications 2012 – ICC 2012, Ottawa.
e) The 2012 Appreciation Award was given to the City of Ottawa for its support to the activities of the IEEE Ottawa Section and valuable contribution to the success of the International Conference on Communications 2012 – ICC 2012, Ottawa.
3-“Section Awards presented at the Section AGM 2012” The following Section Awards were presented at the Section AGM 2012 on Oct 19, 2012.
a) Outstanding Chapter Award: The Antennas and Propagation Society and Microwave Theory & Techniques Society (AP/MTT) Joint Chapter for organizing technical meetings and conferences and promoting membership development in 2012.
b) Outstanding Committee Award: The IEEE Canada Humanitarian Technology Ad-hoc Committee for organizing Humanitarian workshop the IEEE International Conference on Communications 2012 (ICC2012).
c) Outstanding Student Branch Award: The University of Ottawa Student Branch for organizing events and for providing networking opportunities for its members.
