CUHacking is the first Major League Hacking membered hackathon in Ottawa, and going to be the largest hackathon in Ottawa. Around 300 university and college students are expected to participate. The objective of this hackathon is for groups of students to come up with and create a software or hardware project in 24 hours. Prizes will be awarded to the best hacks as well as through possible challenges run by tech companies. Participation for students is free and food will also be provided.
Being a member event of Major League Hacking makes CUHacking an official worldwide hackathon. This will motivate university and college students in software, computer systems, and electrical engineering all across the world to work on side projects that can make a positive impact on society.
Launch of IEEE Ottawa Lunch & Learn (11/27/2016) a Success!
Thank you to all those that came out to March Networks for a fantastic seminar (Smart Surveillance Systems: Trends and Recent Research) given by the University of Ottawa's Dr. Robert Laganiere! Thank you to our sponsors March Networks and Kanata North BIA for allowing the initiative to take place.

ORC 2017 - Call for Patrons/Sponsors
The ORC's main objective is to provide hands-on opportunities for elementary and high school students to explore STEM fields through:
- Arduino and Lego Mindstorms programming
- 3D printing
- Report writing and documentation
- Oral presentations
Students program and build robots to compete in a series of challenges on competition day. We provide year-long mentorship through our student mentors as well as several formal workshops to support students.
As past competitors in this event ourselves 8 years ago, we can honestly say that the ORC inspired us to pursue STEM fields. The skills that students gain throughout the preparation process are transferable in any future post-secondary education, career, and academic endeavours.
The ORC relies on the generosity of patrons/sponsors to continue bringing this invaluable opportunity to students in Ottawa. Attached to the newsletter is the ORC 2017 patronage/sponsorship package.
Thus, if you are interested in helping with patronage/sponsorship, please contact us at orcinfo@ieeeottawa.ca.
Finally, we wish you all and your families a happy, safe, and wonderful holiday season.
