IEEE-SA Open Source Symposium - Beyond Software

The IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) is pleased to host an Open Source Symposium - Beyond Software - at the University of Ottawa on 8 August 2016.

Presentations, use cases, and discussions will be delivered by open source development community members, standards development innovators, industry leaders and community members. Topics include:

• Open source development methodology and associated technologies (standards, hardware, software, education, art, etc.)

• How standards development and open source may help organizations

IEEE-SA 5G Workshop

The IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) plans to host a 5G Workshop and reception on Tuesday, 9 August 2016, at the Ottawa Marriott Hotel. 

The IEEE-SA 5G Workshop is intended to provide a collaborative forum for sharing the latest research, activities and insights on 5G. The workshop will include keynote talks from industry leaders and a panel discussion on "How to Get to 5G."  

An evening reception follows at 5:00 p.m. with members of the IEEE Ottawa Section and the IEEE-SA Corporate Advisory Group.

This workshop and reception are available at no charge to attendees.

IEEE Ottawa Section presents every year at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) the Year IEEE Ottawa Section Awards as recognition for its members, volunteers, chapters, affinity groups and student branches as well as recognition and appreciation for the industry and organizations. Are you passionate about robotics, programming and/or helping kids develop an early interest in STEM fields?

The IEEE Ottawa Robotics Competition (ORC) is Ottawa's largest volunteer run robotics competition for students.

We need YOUR help. No previous programming knowledge needed. Many roles are available, but don't wait for long! You'll regret missing out on this exciting and high-energy event!

Learn, build, program and design challenges for kids to solve as part of our Lego & Arduino Teams. Not interested in gaining hands-on programming experience? Join our patronage (sponsorship), marketing, & volunteer coordination executive team!

CPEIA, IEEE forge partnership to advance printable, flexible electronics

Last month, a great milestone was achieved with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between The Canadian Printable Electronics Industry Association (www.cpeia-acei.ca) and the IEEE Canada through the Ottawa Section.

Through this MOU, our two organizations will work to introduce printable, flexible and wearable electronics (PE) to IEEE members as a toolset for developing new products and applications and enhancing existing ones.
