About the Facilitator: Tim Ragan
Tim Ragan is a transformation engineer, focusing on the intersection of business and organizational strategy, people alignment, team performance, and hands-on operational execution.  As a technology executive, Tim logged over 20 years of experience in 11 functional capacities and 8 management and executive roles on 3 continents with 5 multi-billion dollar corporations, including as CEO of a technology start-up. In 2002, Tim decided to slip the corporate yoke and go independent, and formally launched C-View Strategies as a business transformation consulting firm, where he has worked with dozens of client organizations over the years helping them develop new capabilities and improve their overall mission effectiveness. In 2009, Tim purchased the company Career Coaching International (CCI); his work in the career development field has dramatically expanded his knowledge of how to help people discover their true gifts and re-engage and find deeper purpose in their chosen careers; CCI has helped many people access their own entrepreneurial dreams and start businesses. Tim has a B.Sc. (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Alberta, and an MBA from University of Ottawa. In addition to his consulting and business operations, Tim has also taught various business and management courses at The Telfer School at University of Ottawa.
3. EMC 2016 - IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility is now recruiting volunteers

The conference will run Monday-Friday July 25-29 this summer at the Ottawa Shaw Convention Centre. Some registration volunteers will be needed Sunday afternoon July 24, and a volunteer facilities tour is also planned for that day.

EMC 2016 needs volunteers in a variety of roles, during that six day period. We greatly appreciate anyone who cares to put their name forward. IEEE conferences are always a great opportunity for networking and camaraderie.

You can find the conference web site at:http://www.emc2016.emcss.org

This year, for the first time, the IEEE Ottawa Section is trying a new, automated volunteer recruitment and management software tool. Our hope is that this will make the entire process of volunteer sign-up and communications more efficient and transparent for all involved.

The tool is called In it Live (or InitLive), a Kanata Wesley-Clover startup, created for volunteer management. It consists of a web site and a smartphone app. The site is used for signup and shift selection. The app will be used during the conference for attendance and communications.

First thing you need to do is go to the InitLive conference link:

https://app.initlive.com/JE/i8q93mmhqawx7y

You will be asked to sign up for

EMC 2016 - IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility

Please create an account. Thereafter, when you first log in you will be taken to an event list showing EMC 2016 as a selectable item.

The email address you enter will become your id. Also, the phone number you enter will become your main contact number for InitLive communications including SMS.

Once the account is created, it will become a part of your profile. I encourage you to further refine you profile with additional contact information and a photo so we can recognize you.

At this point you will be presented with an event list containing the EMC 2016 conference. Click on this link and it will present you with the conference volunteer home page. Your selection options as a volunteer are limited to a simple 3-step process.

Currently we are only collecting the names and contact information of interested volunteers. Step 3, shifts, isn't available yet. Once the program is stable, a call will go out to all those in the system to sign up for specific shifts.

A conference brochure and the volunteer handbook are available for download on the InitLive conference website.

If you have any questions please contact:

4. Call for Volunteers for ORC 2016 Competition Day!

The IEEE Ottawa Robotics Competition aims at bringing engineering awareness to students in grades 5 to 12 by presenting a fun and instructive approach to problem solving. Students build and program robots through Lego Mindstorms and Arduino platforms for a specific challenge and show off their skills on competition day.

For the 14th iteration of the event, there are 6 challenges and about 80 teams comprising of about 350 students (30 more teams and 100 more students than last year!).

The competition is taking place on Saturday, May 28th. We need judges, crowd control, lunch time volunteers, and photographers/videographers. If you're interested, please sign up athttp://orc.ieeeottawa.ca/volunteering

If you have any questions, please email us at orcinfo@ieeeottawa.ca
