Kent Ledwell, Patent Agent
Mr. Ledwell practises in patents and industrial designs with an emphasis on
originating patent drafting and strategic advice for Canadian high technology,
electronics and telecommunications companies. His main clients are leaders
in wireless communications, embedded software and encryption technologies.
Mr. Ledwell received his honours degree in Systems
Design Engineering with an Option in Management Sciences, from the University of
Waterloo in 1990, graduating with honours. While at the University of Waterloo,
he was a member of the Varsity Rugby Team.
Prior to joining Gowlings in 1997, Mr. Ledwell
spent seven years in electrical project management and design, specializing in
process instrumentation, electrical systems integration and control. Three of
those years were spent with his own engineering consulting firm. His projects
include numerous water and wastewater treatment plants in Eastern Ontario.
Mr. Ledwell is a member of The Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Intellectual Property Institute of Canada,
Canadian Information Processing Society and Canadian Wireless Telecommunications
Association. He is a licenced Professional Engineer in the Province of
Ontario, and holder of a Certification of Authorization to provide engineering
consulting services.
Mr. Ledwell often speaks and writes on software
patents and patent strategy.
