Capturing the Innovator’s Spirit

Partial
coverage: How do you define innovation? What is
innovation? Are you an innovator? Do you want to be an innovator? What does it take to be an innovator? Capturing the Innovator’s Spirit provides: An overview of
innovation. The innovation process. What it takes to be an
innovator. Overcoming resistance to innovation. Why innovators fail.
Program
Objectives: Characterize the scope and
complexity of being the innovator from a systems perspective.
Present a set of concepts and tools that can be applied in
formulating, evaluating, and implementing innovation ― as related to the innovator. Raise the importance of
the innovation process, not only the understanding and promotion of
innovation, but doing innovation. Consider the skills for
understanding the nature of technological uncertainty and the issues
that determine success or failure.

Developing a Culture that Fosters Innovation
(PM)
Program Description:
Innovation depends on organizational culture. Innovation is not
limited to what we consider the technology oriented professional.
Innovation crosscuts every discipline and every function within the
organization.
The program include: The innovation dilemmas.
Organizational culture. Dimensions of the organization’s
infrastructure. Dimensions of the organization’s resources. The
innovation audit. Making it happen. Things to remember.
Target
Audience: Would-be
innovators, managers, and professionals in all disciplines.

Presenter: Gerard H. (Gus) Gaynor, Fellow IEEE.
Based in Minneapolis, Gus has 45 years experience in managing
Engineering and Innovation. He has Published over 30 papers and authored three
books related to engineering and technology management, his latest
textbook Innovation by Design
is hailed as a must for
innovators. Gus worked in upper atmosphere R&D and then
began a 24-year career at 3M. As Director of Engineering for 3M
Europe, Gus was responsible for approximately 2000 technical
personnel. Gus is now consulting in technology and innovation
management.
