Dear IEEE Members and Guests, The 2014 IEEE Ottawa Section executives and officers cordially invites you to your IEEE Ottawa Section Annual General Meeting and Banquet to engage in your section’s business, with a brilliant speaker, and other members and guests over a sit-down dinner. Business covered at the meeting will include the executive report, election of new officers, and awards presentation. Our theme is “Canada in Space,” supported by guest speaker Mr. Luc Brule, who is the Vice-President of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).

Keynote Speaker

Mr. Luc Brule,  Vice-President of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).  

Biography:

Luc Brûlé has been Vice President of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) since April 1, 2014. As the President’s senior advisor, the Vice President is the chief of day-to-day operations at the CSA, monitoring the use of resources, ensuring operations run smoothly and promoting the Agency’s science and technology objectives.

Previously, he was Director General of Space Utilization for the CSA. In this position, he was responsible for the overall planning of the Space Utilization Branch, which is tasked with end-to-end implementation of Earth observation, satellite communications and elements of the space environment of the CSA Space Program.

Following a career at the Department of National Defence, Luc joined the CSA in 1991, where he held a number of director positions, the most recent being Director of Space Exploration Development.

With a bachelor’s degree in physical engineering and a master’s in nuclear engineering, Luc, working in various capacities over the years, has acquired substantial experience with the Canadian RADARSAT program.

As manager of the program for the development and successful launch of RADARSAT-2, Luc was responsible for the Technology and Management
